What is Chromium Picolinate?

Chromium picolinate is one of several forms of chromium used in dietary supplements.

Evidence Is Mixed

Studies of chromium for blood sugar control and PCOS have produced inconsistent findings. NIH’s Office of Dietary Supplements describes any potential PCOS benefits as very small. Weight-loss trials have also found only small changes that are unlikely to make a meaningful difference to health or appearance.

Chromium should not be presented as a proven way to treat diabetes, reverse insulin resistance, balance hormones, or achieve substantial weight loss.

Check Your Full Routine

Chromium may interact with insulin, other diabetes medicines, and levothyroxine. People with kidney or liver disease should be cautious with high supplemental amounts. Review supplements with your healthcare professional and use the current product label for the amount per serving.
